The
Provincial Government under the leadership of
Governor Carlos Jericho Petilla, continues to
give public service a flavorful relevance as
it brings the government's services directly
to the people of Leyte with the launching of
the ICOT Caravan in Tanauan, Leyte, recently.
The launching of the ICOT Caravan in Tanauan,
Leyte was a big hit as hundreds of Tanauan residents
flocked at the Tanauan Gym to avail of the many
services being offered by the different provincial
departments which participated in the Caravan.

The ICOT Caravan, Tanauan Mayor Roque Tiu said,
is more than just a medical and dental mission;
it also includes the nutrition component of the
nutritional feeding program pioneered by Congresswoman
Remedios L. Petilla, and the provision of free
cosmetology care services. He said that this is
a big help not only to the constituents of the
municipality’s fifty four barangays, who
cannot afford to pay for these services, it is
also a great assistance to the local government
units especially those the small ones with very
limited budget for social services.

|
Initial reports indicate that the ICOT Caravan
in Tanauan served close to 1,000 residents including
the 600 persons who availed of medical services,
the 111 residents who availed of the dental care
service and about 28 young boys who availed of
the free circumcision. |
 |
Medical
services rendered include free consultations and
the giving of free medicines.
On the other hand, the Dental Services include
free tooth extractions and the giving of the needed
medicines, for free.
The Caravan also offered free cosmetology services
that include free haircut, manicure and pedicure
services to about a hundred residents.
|
A
big hit during the Caravan is the nutrition
feeding of hundreds of children by Congresswoman
Remedios Petilla.
Those who attended the ICOT Caravan were entertained
by Ms. Daryll Gariando of Tacloban City , the
first ICOT Singing IDOL 2006 and Carlo Igot
of Tolosa, Leyte, from Leyte ’s pools
of singing idols. Their entertainment added
color to the activity and made more bearable
the waiting for the patients’ turn.
