Tanauan, Leyte -- Civil Service Commissioner Cesar Buenaflor is scheduled to grace the launching on June 3, of the Citizen's Charter of Tanauan, Leyte, one of the two showcased municipal government units in Region 8. |
Commissioner Buenaflor will be accompanied by CSC officials in Region 8 headed by Director David Cabanag Jr., Mayor Roque Tiu informed.
Mayor Tiu said that streamlining and posting of procedures are only among the things government agencies are required to do under Republic Act No. 9485 or the Anti-Red Tape Act of 2007.
The Anti-Red Tape Act promotes transparency of government frontline services and encourages public vigilance. It also helps weed out fixers. |
Mayor Tiu said that streamlining of procedures is no longer new as the LGU has been judged as the Most Business Friendly Municipality of the Philippines twice because of its streamlined procedure in business licensing.
"This time, the LGU streamlined the procedures in all its frontline services and the procedures are now posted or installed in front of all the LGU department offices," Mayor Tiu informed.
A compilation of all the procedures in all the LGU frontline services have been printed in a brochure entitled Citizens Charter of Tanauan, Leyte, for the benefit of the LGU clients, Mayor Tiu added.
Under R.A. 9485, agencies are also required to draw a Citizen's Charter. It should contain a step-by-step procedure of the agency's top 20 services, including the name of employee responsible for each step, the maximum time to conclude the process, documents to be presented by the client, amount of fees, procedure for filing complaints in relation to requests and applications, feedback mechanisms, among other information.
In Region 8, the Civil Service Commission has showcased the Citizen's Charter of the provincial government of Northern Samar; the city governments of Calbayog and Baybay; and the municipal governments of Tanauan, Leyte and Malitbog, Southern Leyte. (PIA 8) |
