SEN MAR COMMENDS TANANUAN FOR ITS EFFORTS TO PREVENT
CORRUPTION IN GOVT, EXHORTS OTHERS TO DO THE SAME
Senator Mar Roxas, in his keynote speech at the Alay Lakad Program in Tanauan, Leyte commended the local government of Tanauan for its efforts to fight corruption as shown in its winning the most business-friendly municipality of the country in 2006.

Senator Roxas called on all the local government units and all the people for that matter, to do their share in the governments thrust for good governance through the eradication of graft and corruption.

Sen. Roxas said that as the country is already experiencing economic growth which has been elusive for decades, the best come on to investors is graft-free governance.

Known as Mr. Palengke during his senatorial

campaign, Senator Mar Roxas continues to give priority to the improvement of the markets in the country considering that the market in every municipality is the showcase of the locality economic situation.

To the delight of Mayor Roque Tiu, the local officials and the participants in this years Alay Lakad Program, Senator Mar Roxas announced that he is allocating P2 million  for improvement of Tanauan Public Market which is due for upgrading into a first class super market next year.

Together with Senator Roxas is flying it very early Sunday morning to Tacloban and driving to Tanauan, is his beautiful lady love, Ms. Korina Sanchez, a well-known television personality, whom he thanked for accepting his invitation to join him in his visit to Leyte.

Senator Roxas jokingly said that she willingly joined him because she knows that there are many beautiful ladies in Leyte.

From Tanauan, Senator Roxas and Ms. Korina motored to Tacloban City Convention Center and to the municipality of Tabon-Tabon where they were welcomed by Mayor Alfred Romualdez and Mayor Rusty Balderian, respectively.

To give importance to the media, who Senator Roxas said, is the partner of government in development and nation-building, he will formally meet them in a press conference at the residence of Mr. Eugene Tan, the president of the Pintados Foundation and this year’s chairperson of the Alay Lakad in Tacloban City.
