PRES. ERAP VISITS
TANAUAN

Tanauan, Leyte November 17, 2008 - Former President Joseph “Erap” Estrada together with Former Senator Ernesto Maceda visited the new town hall of Tanauan last Friday, November 14, 2008 at around 2:00 o’clock in the afternoon.

Mayor Roque Tiu, the SB Members and other officials and employees of the town were on hand to warmly receive the honored guests.  Mayor Tiu said in his welcome speech that the people of Tanauan are honored to be visited by a former Chief Executive of the land.  It is very seldom that Tanauan is visited by high government officials.

Pres. Erap mentioned among others in his speech that he will be donating 20 units of wheelchairs in addition to the six (6) units already given by his Senator son, Jinggoy, who was the guest of honor during the town’s fiesta this year.

Sen. Maceda on his part said publicly that in his provincial sorties since he became a national official, the town hall of Tanauan is considered as the most beautiful town hall he visited with its very practical and functional design.  He congratulated Mayor Tiu and the people of Tanauan for that.  He even said that their party will support Mayor Tiu if he runs for congress or expect the Mayor to be appointed to a high national position.

Among those who accompanied President Erap were former Mayor Bejo Romualdez of Tacloban and Maam Bering Valenzuela of the City Hall, Actor Rex Cortez and their local host Jimjim Yaokasin, the former City Administrator of Tacloban.

Joining the Municipal Officials to receive the guests were several Barangay Chairmen, Teachers and Students and some residents who chanced upon the visitors.The guests visited the other towns of Leyte and were the guests of a joint Rotary Club meeting at Tacloban City and ended their tour with a dinner hosted by the Provincial Officials headed by Gov. Icot Petilla.
